Breaking: Lagos frees 20 more Kirikiri prison inmates

The Chief Judge of Lagos State has released 20 more inmates from the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prisons.

The figure brings the total of officially released prison inmates to 119.

Earlier, at the Medium Security Prisons, 99 inmates – 54 of them already freed following advice by the Director of Public Prosecution – were released by the Chief Judge.

The Chief Judge of Lagos State has released 99 inmates from the Kirikiri Medium Security Prisons.

The release is part of activities marking the commencement of the 2013 legal year of the Lagos State Judiciary.

81 of the inmates allegedly committed major offences while 18 were minor offences.

The event is still ongoing.
